The message I get is that parents should be responsible for their family. He settles in London where a serial killer goes around and kills homeless persons. One day, Shelter meets Link and Ginger, and he declines to give them money when they beg from him.
Though Link fancies her, he has suffered too many disappointments in his life to want to try anything with her so he gets up to leave. If unfortunately one of the parents betrays his family then the other should sacrifice his or her life for the children.
He tells us his story in a very colloquial way as if you are staying next beside him.
Shelter is a year-old man who has retired from army. While having a cup of coffee at a kebab shop near where Ginger left him, he meets Gail, a Scottish girl of a similar age, who has apparently run away from home like him.
Shelter served in the Army for twenty-nine years. Watching her go, Link sadly pockets the money and questions to himself whether justice was really done since Shelter will get a roof over his head, a warm bed and three meals a day in prison, but he will not.
The year-old Link was saddened when his father abandons his family for a receptionist. It then emerges that Ginger had come back from visiting his friends and tried to find Link and that Shelter had persuaded Ginger that he had hit Link with his car and taken him back to his home.
After a few bad days of being homeless he meets Ginger, a streetwise person who has been homeless for quite some time. She is from Glasgow. A guy called Shelter is killing all the homeless people.
Furthermore, Shelter does not understand why he could not stay in the army and serve the country, when all this garbage are allowed to stay on the streets. I think the book would equally appeal to boys and girls because of Link and Gail. I, however, think Link was emotionally unstable and made the wrong decision to leave his home.
Gail follows Link, asking him questions. You can make your own image about it, and that makes the book as well as it is. After some time, Link accepts that Ginger has vanished and that he is on his own again.
The part that I most vividly remember in the novel is when Link was kicked out of the house of the Landlord.
He looks for a job but no one will take him on as he has no experience and has only five GCSEs.Stone cold is a book written by Robert Swindells, the plot of the story is set on two people, one who is homeless (Link) and one who kills because he believes that the homeless ruin the place (Shelter).
